After remaining almost empty during the past six months, with a few thousand cusecs daily inflow, the water inflow at Guddu Barrage on River Indus crossed 0.1 million cusecs mark this week making available more water for sowing Kharif crop in Sindh province.
Wapda officials told Business Recorder here on Tuesday that more than 0.25 million cusecs water is now flowing in the four rivers of the country, namely the Indus, Kabul, Jhelum and Chenab.
THE POSITION OF RIVER INFLOWS/OUTFLOWS AT TARBELA, MANGLA AND CHASHMA, AND THE RESERVOIR LEVELS AND THE BARRAGES ON TUESDAY WERE AS FOLLOWS:
RIVERS:
-- Indus at Tarbela: inflows 113,600 cusecs and outflows 110,000 cusecs.
-- Kabul at Nowshera: inflows 48,300 cusses and outflows 48,300 cusecs. Indus at -- Chashma: inflows 137,300.cusecs and outflows 140.000 Cusecs. Jhelum at Mangla: inflows 55,000 cusecs and outflows 44,000 cusecs. Chenab at Marala: inflows 39,100 cusecs and outflows 21,700 cusecs.
BARRAGES:
-- Jinnah: inflows 138,000 cusecs and outflows 130.500 cusecs.
-- Chashma: Inflows 137,300 cusecs and outflows 140,000 cusecs.
-- Guddu: inflows 105200 cusecs and outflows 85,500 cusecs.
-- Sukkur: inflows 82,600 cusecs and outflows 32,700 cusecs.
-- Kotri: inflows 10,060 cusecs and outflows nil
RESERVOIRS LEVEL AND STORAGE:
Tarbela level 1381 feet, live storage 0.169 million acre-feet (MAF) and dead level 1369 feet.
-- Mangla: live storage 1.095 MAF and dead level 1040 ft.
-- Chashma: level 640.20 feet, live storage 0.041 MAF and dead level 637 feet.
