Speakers at a conference stressed the need of spreading awareness amongst masses to initiate efforts regarding water conservation aim to save country from acute aqua shortage in coming years.
These views came by several speakers at a daylong conference on Sharing and findings of the Citizen Report Card (CRC) and Karachi Water Partnership (KWP) partners meeting, which was organised by Hisaar Foundation held at local hotel on Thursday.
Speakers said that CRC has been prepared by the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB) with the assistance of Water and Sanitation Programme- South Asia (WSP-SA), which was based on the results of a comprehensive survey conducted in nine towns of the city.
They said that the key objective, was to compare the accessibility, usage, reliability and satisfaction with water and sewerage in different towns in Karachi besides allocating performance based budget in this connection.
They stressed on government to enforce global principles regarding water issues, saying that whole world was effectively practising not to put polluted water into fresh water, however, the same was reverse in Pakistan.
They said that the issue of water scarcity could be resolved in Pakistan, if water would be recycled for agriculture and industry purposes instead of asking for more fresh water. A large number of participants were present in the conference.
