The Governor, North West Frontier Province (NWFP). Owais Ahmed Ghani has asked the University of Peshawar to submit a properly designed plan for the proposed Model Materials and Research Institute so that the project could be materialised at the earliest.
While talking to the presentation meeting of the project at the Governor's House on Thursday, Ghani, who is also the Chancellor of the University said, 'We should adopt a pragmatic approach to upgrade educational and research studies so as to develop and utilise indigenously skilled manpower for greater national interest'.
The faculty from the Physics Department of University of Peshawar, Dr Yaseen Iqbal presented the project in presence of the Chief Executive of Fata Development Authority, Muhammad Shahzad Arbab, provincial Secretary Industries, Shah Wali Khan and Secretary, Higher Education, Amjad Shahid Afridi.
Further, the Governor emphasised the importance of integrated approach to introduce latest technologies in the indigenous resources based manufacturing and finishing process of goods. He said latest knowledge in the field of research has become vital to rapid development in every field of life and the institutions of higher studies could become the best source of guidance in making all this possible.
Ghani assured necessary funds possible for this purpose and mentioned the ongoing efforts of the government to develop mineral resources in Fata hoped that proper proposals should be finalised at the earliest to involve the scientists of the University in making the investments fully useful and result-oriented.
Meanwhile, Dr Iqabl said that Pakistan especially the NWFP and its adjoining Fata were blessed with tremendous hidden wealth in the shape of different kinds of mineral resources and the value of finished goods could be tremendously increased by applying integrated approach and efficient application of different research based means.
Further, the Governor maintained that the proposed institute project if materialised, would offer latest educational and research facilities and develop skilled manpower by making best use of the indigenous resources.
