Secretary General, Asian Productivity Organisation (APO), Shigeo Takenaka, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), National Productivity Organisation (NPO), Tariq Bajwa visited All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) office here on Wednesday.
Chairman Aptma, Punjab, Engr Akber Sheikh, welcoming the delegation said that Aptma has been engaged with NPO in the exercise of bench-marking of the spinning Industry vis-à-vis international industry standards, which has given very encouraging as eye opening results.
There is strong realisation in the textile sector of Pakistan that unwise use of resources has badly affected the profitability and viability of textile sector, he said.
In addition, Aptma, in wake of rising power cost and crisis in power generation has been interacting with NPO with a remarkable consistency. As a result, it achieved a joint collateral benefit of enhancing efficiency in the power sector that resulted in capacity building of human resource development and management for participating institutions.
Further, he said textile industry aims to deliver meaningful and qualitative change. He stressed a long-term engagement and co-operation between the textile industry and APO for the realisation of objectives in sustainable development. Highlighting the importance of long term liaison between these organisations he said that cooperation between the textile industry and APO is the most desirable for the realisation of objectives that resulted in the form of sustainable development.
