Deputy Speaker of National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi has informed a group of elders from Dera Ismail Khan that Rs 2,000 million has been allocated for Gomal Zam Dam and Rs 50 million for Chashma Right Bank Canal in the 2008-2009 budget.
In addition to this amount, Rs 25 million and 75 million have also been earmarked for construction of embankments at difference places on the Indus River in the same district. Kundi added that sufficient funds have been provided for development in the backward areas so that these areas could step forward to achieve parity with developed areas.
He praised the government for giving attention to new projects and also thanked the Prime Minister for their commitment to implement PSDP schemes catering to health, education, women welfare, communication and development of water resources projects.
Kundi said that Rs 50 million have also been allocated for improvement and development of roads and communication network in DI Khan, in addition to Rs 80 million for Gomal University and Rs 50 million for the construction of a new medical college.
