Partly Facetious: Musharraf's need for tighter security

"I heard the news that the President's security was beefed up."
"Whatever for? I mean the guy is currently a lame duck president."
"Bush is the lame duck president. Musharraf is not yet a lame duck."
"What powers does he exercise?"
"He is meeting with members of the Lota party."
"I thought some members of that elite group are looking for excuses to dump him."
"Why do they need excuses? And why refer to them as the elite group now when they are running from pillar to post to get their private work done."
"See there is this saying about rats leaving a sinking ship and they don't like to be referred to as rats. And I refer to all politicians as elite what with the NRO and the PRO?"
"What's the PRO?"
"Political Reconciliation Ordinance that was passed in Zardari House."
"Something about reconciliation and the new Jiyala high command, but you know the Lota Party is not yet a part of the PRO."
"That's true but my question is why was Musharraf's security beefed up?"
"Well, apparently he is a target of the terrorists again."
"Terrorists or the Baloch nationalists who he gave orders to kill and to make them disappear and..."
"I thought only Bush had the brains to continue to support a man who is so out and out."
"I guess those targeting Musharraf have something in common with Bush."
"Ah, those are fighting words indeed."
"But who else is taking Musharraf seriously?"
"Many who want revenge for his past brutality...Nawaz Sharif's statements in recent months can also be considered in that light."
"So there is a need for him to be held accountable for what he did in the past."
"I would think it is imperative. Tempers won't cool down unless that happens, tempers in Balochistan, tempers in our tribal belt, tempers even amongst the Jiyalas in the aftermath of May 12 last year."
