The NWFP Minister for Labour, Sher Azam Wazir, on Tuesday felicitated Chief Minister, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, and Provincial Finance Minister, Hamayun Khan, for presenting tax-free surplus budget for the year 2008-09 and termed it a balanced and people-friendly in the present situation.
The labour minister in a statement, issued here on Tuesday, said huge allocations have been made for maintaining law and order, promotion of education, provision of best health care and portable drinking water facilities and betterment of other social sectors.
He added that it would bring positive change in the life standard of the people. Sher Azam, while praising the peace agreement with local Taliban in District Swat maintained that it would prove helpful in bringing lasting peace in the province besides removing negative impression of militancy against Pakhtoons and reduce the crime ratio in the province.
Thanking the chief minister for allocating funds for new dams in Southern Area of the province, the minister asserted that completion would bring green revolution in the area and the province would get food autarky by bringing thousands acres barren land under cultivation there. Subsidy of Rs two billion on wheat would ease the suffering of the common man, he said.
