Four million acre feet water stored in dams

Water and Power Development Authority has so far stored more than four million acre feet water in three reservoirs - Tarbela, Mangla and Chashma - which reached dead level on May 11, 2008. Wapda is storing half of the current inflows of rivers Indus and Jhelum in Tarbela and Mangla dams respectively and releasing 0.32 million cusecs water of the Indus, Jhelum, Kabul and Chenab for sowing of Kharif crop.
The position of the river inflows/outflows at Tarbela, Mangla and Chashma along with the reservoirs levels and the barrages on Tuesday morning was as under:
Rivers: Indus at Tarbela - Inflows 301,000 cusecs and outflows 160,800 cusecs, Kabul at Nowshera - Inflows 92,500 cusecs and outflows 92,500 cusecs, Indus at Chashma - Inflows 241,700 cusecs and outflows 215,000 cusecs, Jhelum at Mangla - Inflows 71,200 cusecs and outflows 25,000 cusecs, Chenab at Marala - Inflows 90,300 cusecs and outflows 62,000 cusecs.
Barrages: Jinnah - Inflows 236,900 cusecs and outflows 228,400 cusecs, Chashma - Inflows 241,700 cusecs and outflows 215,000 cusecs, Taunsa - Inflows 190,500 cusecs and outflows 161,500 cusecs, Guddu - Inflows 142,500 cusecs and outflows 110,800 cusecs, Sukkur - Inflows 97,600 cusecs and outflows 40,300 cusecs, Kotri - Inflows 19,750 cusecs and outflows Nil.
Reservoirs level and storage: Tarbela - level 1443.80 feet, live storage 1.727 Million Acre Feet (MAF) and dead level 1369.00 feet, Mangla - level 1144.20 feet, live storage 1.863 MAF and dead level 1040 feet, Chashma - level 644.00 feet, live storage 0.141 MAF and dead level 637 feet.
