The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday claimed to have arrested five terrorists with 70 kilogrammes of explosive material and other material used in carrying out terrorist activities. Those arrested were identified as Inamul Haq, Inayatullah, Abdul Wahid, Mohammad Azam and Hafiz Fida-ur-Rehman.
Mohammad Azam, Inamul Haq, Inayatullah are resident of Shahdara, Lahore while Abdul Wahid is resident of Ghalib Market Lahore and Hafiz Fida-ur-Rehman of Azad Kashmir. FIA Director Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmad told reporters that FIA following tip off that some terrorists were conspiring to target important installations, formed a special team comprising FIA officers, which arrested them in successful raids.
He told newsmen that two boxes of 35 kg explosive material, four hand grenades, two electric batteries, five automatic time devices, 12 electric detonators and four safety fuses have been seized.
To a question, Manzoor said that during investigation, the arrested terrorists confessed that they wanted to target important official installations in the provincial capital. He said those arrested had links with terrorists in South Wazirstan and they belong to a banned religious outfit. More investigations are expected.
