Punjab Inspector General of Police Shaukat Javed expressed displeasure over defective investigation of a case conducted by the DSP and the inspector against the influential sacked deputy director Agriculture involved in Rs 1.8 million bounced cheques' case.
Central Police Office sources told APP here on Sunday that SP (invest) Sadr, Lahore Shoaib Khurram held DSP and inspector responsible for conducting faulty investigation against accused Muhammad Tahir Faizi.
Police discharged the accused without recording the statement of the complainant. A case No 484/07 was registered with police station New Muslim Town here on December 16, 2007 against one of the influential members of a gang of fraudulent, Muhammad Tahir Faizi.
The version of the complainant during inquiry proved that the then Police Inspector (investigation) Muhammad Rafiq, after receiving illegal gratification discharged the accused Muhammad Tahir Faizi without any lawful ground.
The then-DSP Wahdat Colony Sub-Division, Rana Muhammad Azeem, without calling the complainant endorsed the discharge report submitted by the inspector.
The accused is also facing a number of such cases in other police stations, including preparation of forged documents in Civil Lines in which he was arrested along with the notorious member of the land mafia, Malik Muhammad Mansha Khokhar of Green Town. SSP (investigation) Capital City Police, Lahore, Zulfiqar Hameed has sent a detailed report to senior officials for further submission to the IGP for strict disciplinary action against the above officials.
