Socio-political circles have appealed to the high-ups of railways authorities that a survey should be conducted for laying railway track between Sialkot-Daska for minimising the distance between Sialkot-Lahore.
In a press statement issued here Sunday they said that huge amount was being spent on the upgradation of railway tracks in various parts of the country but Sialkot was being totally ignored.
The impact of laying the railway track between Sialkot and Daska would help accelerate the trade and commerce activities besides being supportive in speedy handling of exportable consignments while it will reduce the distance between Sialkot-Lahore they said.
At present most of the passengers preferred to travel by luxury coaches or their own transport because of the Lahore bound train lacks facilities, they said. The socio-political circles alleged that railway authorities had always ignored this export-oriented and foreign exchange earner city since long.
The railway authorities have failed to provide modern and comfortable travelling facilities to the people despite demands for the fast railcar service between Sialkot-Rawalpindi and inclusion of AC bogies with Karachi bound Allama Iqbal Express as well as fast train service between Sialkot-Lahore and Sialkot-Faisalabad.
They pointed out that railway tracks between Sialkot-Narowal are in deteriorated condition and deserve immediate attention of the railway authorities. Meanwhile, the local exporter community said that laying the railway track between Sialkot and Daska would further accelerate the pace of trade and commerce activities as well as open the new vistas of industrial development in the area.
