I extend my warm felicitations to National University of Sciences and Technology on organising in partnership with University of North Carolina (UNCC), USA a highly innovative summer camp for high school students. Its rubric 'Exylent' truly portrays the spirit and philosophy behind this unique workshop with its prime focus on developing young leaders' natural talents.
I am happy to learnt that the workshop was most enthusiastically attended and greatly served to nourish inquisitive students by providing students with hands on experience the world of robotics and equipping them with simple techniques in the architecture and functionality of different kinds of robots.
I compliment the planners and administrators of this pioneering venture, the first of its kind in the country, on fuelling and empowering innovative abilities of bright teenagers through experiential learning. Such workshops, are the need of the hour, and I hope this monumental initiative of NUST be emulated at other institutions as well.
Creativity and innovation do not grow and prosper in wilderness. Conscious of this axiomatic truth, developed nations have invested great efforts and resources in building the creative potential of children from a very early age. The dividends of this investments, show in the amazing abilities, talents and innovations of the young generations, of these developed nations all over the global.
We cannot afford to turn a blind eye to this stark reality. It is unfortunate that we have little enviable evidence in terms of producing scientists and engineers of international stature and repute. Certainly, it is not our destiny to continue lagging behind in the race of science and technology. We essentially need to correct our focus and realign our priorities.
It is highly gratifying that NUST has ventured to change the mindset of society. This great university stands apart by putting a high premium on nurturing the creative and innovative abilities of bright teenagers. Exylent is a welcome initiative and I consider it a very critical step in laying sound foundation for the much-needed promotion and sustenance of a culture of creativity and innovation across the whole spectrum of our education. I wish NUST continued strides in this sublime direction.
