The Shah Abdul latif Bhitai Chair of University of Karachi (KU) will mark the golden jubilee of the career of a prominent short story writer, novelist, playwright and columnist Amar Jalil at a local hotel on June 29. This was announced by Director of the Chair Professor M. Saleem Memon, in a statement on Saturday.
He said that eminent writers and intellectuals would pay tributes to Amar Jalil. They include KU vice-chancellor Professor Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, Mazharul Haq, Iftikhar Arif, Qamar Shahbaz, Dr Suleman Shaikh, Dr Fehmida Hussain, Dr Sehar Imdad, Mehtab Akbar Rashdi, Professor Nagpal and Shaukat Hussain Shoro. Shields will also be presented to Amar Jalil on the occasion on behalf of various organisations.
