16th IED working group meeting held at general headquarters

The Working Group of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), Afghan National Army (ANA) and Pakistan Army deliberated on countering the threat of Improvised Explosives Device (IED) being faced by civilians. In 16th IED Working Group Meeting, held at General Headquarters on Tuesday.
The delegates from the three forces were of the view that appropriate measures are necessary to remove the threat of IED from the civilian population as well as Security Forces on both sides of the Pak-Afghan border.
The delegates from ANA, ISAF and Pakistan Army participated in the meeting, which lasted for two days. Brigadier General Mohammed Saleem, Director General Disaster Response ANA led the Afghan delegation, while Brigadier General Jim Hutton, was heading the ISAF delegation. Brigadier Muhammed Farooq Murawat led the Pakistan side.
The participants dwelt at length on measures to counter the IED threat faced by the civil population as well as Security Forces on both sides of the Pak-Afghan border. At the end of the meeting, participants expressed their satisfaction over the progress made so far since establishment of the Working Group as a sub committee of the Tripartite Commission.
