State Bank of Pakistan Governor Dr Shamshad Akhtar on Thursday presented new notes of Rs 50 and Rs 5 denominations to Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and briefed him about their security features. She told the Prime Minister that the new designs of the currency notes have been approved by the Cabinet.
The Prime Minister appreciated that pictures of K-2 peak and Gwadar Deep Sea Port feature on the back of the Rs 50 and Rs 5 notes, respectively. Dr Shamshad told the Prime Minister that the sophisticated security features have been introduced to avoid counterfeiting.
