The Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) has established a toll free help line with telephone number 1334 to register complaints about water supply and sanitation from residents of the Wasa service area in the city.
Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General Irfan Ali disclosed this while listening to complaints of the people regarding water supply and sanitation here on Friday. Wasa Managing Director Dr Javed Iqbal and other officials concerned were also present at this occasion.
"People can contact this telephone number for lodging their grievances regarding service provided by Wasa. The concerned staff has been directed to respond immediately for rectification of these complaints," he added.
The director general said that he would continue listening to these complaints every Thursday and Friday. He told Wasa officials to carry out desilting of drains and sewer lines as a continuous process to ensure speedy disposal of storm water from the city, during the ongoing rainy seasons. He also ordered for making optimum utilisation of the machinery worth Rs 900 million that had been received from Japan for this purpose.
He directed all the directors of operation wing of Wasa for personally visiting every nook and corner of the area under their supervision for getting a first hand information of problems of the people. He also directed them for keeping a vigilant eye on the performance of field staff and making every possible effort for rectifying public complaints with regard to water supply and sanitation.
