The Punjab government has appointed columnist Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi as Chairman of Board of Governors of Al-Hamra Arts Council. According to a notification issued here in this regard. Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi is the recipient of Pride of Performance and Sitara-e-Imtiaz for his contributions to the literary field.
His first book "Rozan Diwar Say" had won Writer's Guild Adam Jee Award. Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi is the author of seven books and four travelogues. He has also written various TV serials and his poetic work titled "Mulaqatain Adhuri Hein" has been published.
Qasmi has participated in various international conferences. He is a member of Pakistan Film Censor Board and Majlis-e-Taraqqi-e-Adab. It may be mentioned that Faiz Ahmad Faiz, Syed Abid Ali Abid and Sufi Ghulam Mustafa Tabasum are the predecessors of Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi.
