The qualification of four women MNAs who were elected on reserved seats from Punjab have been challenged in the Lahore High Court. The MNAs included Nuzhat Sadiq and Sabeen Rizvi of PML-N while Sabeen Rizvi and Shireen Arshad of PPP.
Petitioner Najma Ahmed of PML-N submitted to the court that the respondents were registered as voters in Islamabad, hence they could not be elected on the reserved seats from other cities. He said under Article 55 1 (a) of the Constitution, the federal territory does not have any reserved seats and prayed to the court to declare the respondents disqualified from being members of the parliament.
