The FATA military operation is all hype and no substance. Just 15 to 20 buildings have been blown up but not a single militant Taliban or their leader has been killed or captured. The reason is that they melted before the Army stepped in. It was a noora kushti between the Army and the Taliban.
This is not a new function of the Taliban who were created by the intelligence agencies to fight the Russians with the help of US dollars and arms. If you want to know more about it and the names of the generals involved you should read Steve Coll's 'Ghost Wars'. After losing four wars with the Indians and losing half the country, they have not learnt any lessons. God forbid if there is another war even the people of Pakistan will not come to their help.
It is still not too late. Does the Army want us to believe that with their gung-ho action they have not captured a single militant leader like Baitulla Mehsud or the one eyed Omar? If the Army means business they must first announce that they will not tolerate Taliban styled Sharia, which is un-Islamic, and that Pakistani laws are all Sharia compliant.
Secondly the Taliban should be warned that if any girl's schools or government buildings are demolished, ten of their madrassas will be demolished. Thirdly their threats to music shops, barber salons etc will be taken as threats to the government and will be treated accordingly.
However if the Army is sincere in eliminating the militant Taliban and their leaders they should go after their nests and caves and their breeding grounds and destroy them from their roots, including the militant Taliban leaders who all claim themselves Maulanas and Mullas.
