Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer on Monday ruled out ruled out any possibility of use of article 58-(2)b by President Pervez Musharraf, and said there was no chances of its use. Answering a question, he said at present the Pakistan Muslim League-N was not "functional" in the Federal government, but expressed the hope that the PML-N would play its due role in the coalition set-up in coming days. He said the present PPP-led regime would complete its constitutional term and also come up to the expectations of people. Dozens of people, mainly the PPP activists, thronged the Governor's House for the redressal of their grievances.
The Governor listened to the public complaints, and issued on the spot orders. He told the people that a comprehensive system for redressal of public complaints had been put in place at the Governor's House and necessary compliance reports were being sought from different departments.
He added that people of Pakistan had voted in the February 18 polls for the redressal of their grievances and the present set-up would come up to their expectations. The Governor also praised the PPP leadership for rendering sacrifices for the cause of democracy in the country.
