The rural population should get themselves registered in the National Database and Registration Authority's Nadra (database) for free to avail facilities like the Benazir Food Programme, Health Schemes and other welfare schemes, says a press release.
Nadra Chairman Brigadier Saleem Ahmed Moeen (Retd) expressed these views during his visit to Nadra offices of Larkana, Mirpurkhas and Sukkur. He said a very limited number of people in Interior Sindh had obtained computerised identity cards and that is why Nadra is focusing on these areas. Nadra is now giving more coverage to the far-flung areas of Sindh as 39 mobile vans are working in the province.
He said about 85 million people in the country had attained the age of 18-year, and they are eligible for CNIC while Nadra has already issued 63.7 million computerised identity cards so far.
He said as per the government's directives, CNICs are now being issued free of cost to those, who are applying for CNICs for the first time under normal mode (applications for urgent issuance of CNICs will be processed against urgent fee). However, the usual fees will be charged against normal/urgent applications for modification in record and reissuance of expired or lost CNICs.
While briefing about the e-Sahulat project, Saleem Ahmed Moeen said that 170 e-Sahulat franchise licenses had already been awarded in Sindh. It was the remarkable popularity of kiosk project and directions from the PM's Advisor on interior Rehman Malik, which motivated Nadra to launch another vibrant project e-Sahulat. Based on its performance in the field of High-Tech ID documents National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) had once again secured the honour of being one of the Top 50 IT companies of the world for consecutive three years.-PR
