Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration is expanding the network of computer literacy centres and libraries in the rural areas of the city to promote reading habits among the young generation and providing them healthy environment for polishing their mental capabilities.
Chief Commissioner Islamabad Hamid Ali Khan said this, while inaugurating children and women libraries and computer literacy centres at the two union councils of Sohan and Bhara Kahu. Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Amer Ali Ahmad and officials of ICT were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Commissioner Islamabad Hamid Ali Khan said that establishment of computer literacy centres and libraries in the rural areas would bring about a healthy change in the society and would provide excellent opportunities to children and students for developing their faculties.
Hamid Ali Khan hoped that the young generation would make best use of their time by visiting libraries and take full advantage of the opportunities being provided to them. Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Amer Ali Ahmad said that ICT administration has already set up 10 computers literacy centres in the rural areas, which are running successfully.
Now the administration has also started setting up libraries and further expanding the computers literacy centres in the rural areas of Islamabad with a view to promote healthy activities among the youth and providing them equal opportunities in the rural areas for their healthy growth. He urged upon the youth to take full advantage of the opportunities and spend their time in useful activities by getting knowledge, reading books and expanding their mental horizon.
Latter on Chief Commissioner Islamabad Hamid Ali Khan and Deputy Commissioner Islamabad also listened the problems of local community and issued on the spot directions to the concerned officials for immediate action.
