US Ambassador Anne W. Patterson on Monday met Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and discussed matters relating to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani's upcoming visit to the United States. The envoy, who called on Qureshi at the Foreign Office here, also discussed the scope of bilateral relations between the two countries.
Qureshi emphasised the importance of a broad-based and long-term relationship between the two countries, going beyond security co-operation. He also focused on enhancing trade, economic relations and people-to-people contacts between the two countries. Prime Minister Gilani is scheduled to meet US President George Bush in Washington on July 28.
