National Accountability Bureau (NAB) pleaded before the Accountability Court to issue summons to Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, PML-N leader and former prime minister, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister and PML-N President for their personal appearance in the court in three references of corruption, money laundering and misuse of power.
Judge of the Accountability Court No 4, Khalid Mehmood on Thursday resumed the hearing on three corruption and money laundering references against Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif and other family members, the Deputy Prosecutor General NAB Zulfiqar Ahmed Bhutta and Special Prosecutor Arif Ali Zafar pleaded before the court to issue summons to two main accused Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif.
In the application filed in Accountability Court on Thursday, the NAB prosecutors pleaded that summons were issued to Sharif brothers asking them to appear before the court on July 25, 2007, but they were living abroad and could not appear in the court. Now Sharif brothers are in Pakistan so that they should be asked to appear personally.
Accountability Court Judge asked the lawyers of Sharif brothers and prosecutors of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to make sure the argument on the plea of the Deputy Prosecutor General of the NAB regarding issuing summons to Sharifs on next hearing.
The learnt judge has asked the two sides for argument on the issue and adjourned the hearing till August 21. It is pertinent to note that three references of corruption, money laundering and misuse of power in Hudabia Paper Mills, Ittefaq Foundry and Riawind Real Estate against the former Premier Nawaz Sharif, his brother Shahbaz Sharif and other family members of the Sharif family are pending in the Accountability Court No 4.
