It is surprising to note that DG CAA has objected to the attendance of MD PIA on its Board totally disregarding that it is PIA due to which it is thriving (or surviving)! Also both are government owned entities and there is absolutely no harm in MD PIA attending as it would in fact benefit both Organisations and augment efforts.
Unfortunately, DG CAA does not have much business sense or commitment to country being a retired official of a multinational company whom he served for nearly 40 years as reported. That company he had served also didn't do much to improve the infrastructure in the country.
One thing is obvious that the memories are very short lived in Pakistan. One may ask, what good DG CAA did for the country as member of the Board of Trustees for KPT for over a decade? In fact, it was and is a very big conflict of interest that a user of a port is part of its Board. Why didn't he object then or voluntarily opt to stay away from KPT Board? This is one of the reason why KPT has not been developed in the country's interest but in fact its capability has reduced.
The government should take a serious note of such conflict of interest situations where people with connections are placed on the Board of Directors primarily to serve their parent companies, masters or for their own ego satisfaction but does not serve the national cause.
