The Chairman of Pakistan People's Party, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, here on Saturday extended heartiest congratulations to the Chinese people and the government for successful holding of grand inauguration ceremony of Beijing Olympics.
He extended the greeting to Member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Politburo and Vice Chairman of CPPCC Wang Gang during a meeting held here at the Great Hall of the People. The Vice-Minister of CPPCC Liu Hong Cai was also present at the meeting.
The Chairman also lauded the foolproof security measures taken by the government to ensure peaceful holding of the Games. He said that the architect of Sino-Pak friendship was his grandfather Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, and his mother Benazir Bhutto also greatly contributed to strengthen these bonds.
He assured that he would play his role to further deepen these relations.He stressed the need to further expand co-operation in diverse fields. "I am really impressed by the socio-economic development of China", Bilawal told Wang.
Both leaders also agreed that PPP and CPC would further expand and strengthen their contacts. They also agreed that the present Government-to-Government contacts would further be cemented.
Wang Gang assured the PPP chairman that his country would continue to invest in Pakistan. Pakistan is a trusted friend of China and both the countries maintain all weather friendship and these ties would continue to grow and strengthen with the passage of time, he noted. The meeting was also attended by Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik, General Secretary PPP Jehangir Badar, Bakhtawar Bhutto, Asifa Bhutto and Charge d'Affaires Abdul Salik Khan.
