Rahnuma-Family Planning Association of Pakistan (FPAP) will organise an interactive dialogue between youth and stakeholders on August 11 here Monday. The purpose of this dialogue will be to highlight youth related issues in Pakistan, said a news release issued here.
Ashfaq Mahmood, Secretary Ministry of Youth Affairs will inaugurate the event and also brief the participants on the contents and status of National Youth Policy.
Pakistan's adolescent and youth, about 32.2 per cent of the population, face issues like illiteracy and unemployment and lack of Sexual and Reproductive Health information. Viewing adolescent as a specific group with their own needs is a relatively recent practice, especially in Pakistan.
Adolescence or transition of adulthood is becoming more of a defined developmental stage in many countries. Thus, there is concurrently a greater understanding of this age group's biological, psychological and health needs.
Rahnuma-FPAP has the privilege of pioneering the family planning movement in Pakistan. Since 1953, it has been advocating the small family norm for a right perspective and providing access to sexual and reproductive health services nation-wide.
