Sharply higher rapeseed production could almost triple exports from five major former Soviet states this season, German oilseeds analysts Oil World said in a report. Exports from CIS countries Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine were seen rising to 2.9 million tonnes in July/June 2008/09, from 1.1 million tonnes last season, the Hamburg-based industry experts said in a report this week.
"Supply pressure and record exports are expected for July and August, the first two months of this season," it said. Oil World estimated this year's rapeseed crop production in the five countries at a combined 4.41 million tonnes, more than double a year ago. "Rapeseed crop development was generally favourable and sharp increases in average yields were achieved in the five countries," Oil World said.
