Charles Sturt University Australia and Agriculture University Faisalabad (UAF) will sign MoU to carry joint research activities and to strengthen co-operation in dairy and livestock sector. Therefore, both the universities have agreed to exchange PhD students for one semester on reciprocal grounds.
The Professor of Animal Production, Charles Sturt University, Australia, Peter Wynn leading a three-member delegation of his university said this in a meeting with the Vice Chancellor, UAF, Professor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan in his chamber on Wednesday morning.
The visiting delegation said that there is an immense potential of production and exploration of new avenues of employment opportunities in Pakistan that could enhance its productivity by utilising trained and vibrant workforce in dairy and livestock sector.
Highlighting Australian support in the agriculture and livestock sector, Project Manager, ASLP Dairy Project, David McGill said that co-ordinated efforts of Pak-Australian scientists have augmented mango, dairy and livestock production in Pakistan.
The UAF VC urged the need for state of the art Australian breeding and genetics technologies in order to enhance production and preserve traditional Pakistani breeds particularly, the Sahiwal Cow and Nili Ravi buffaloes. Lecturer in Cattle Medicine, Chris Petzel and research co-ordinator, (Dairy Extension), Sadia Hanif were also present in the meeting.
