The Japanese film festival will start here on August 26 as part of Pakistan-Japan Friendship fest, a yearly event to promote better understanding between the people of the two countries. The festival is being organised by the Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association (PJCA), Alumni Association of Pakistan (Maap) and the Embassy of Japan to showcase the culture of Japan.
The festival would start with the screening of the film, "Ogin - Her Love and Faith" at a local hotel. The story of the movie is set in 16th century Japan of Tokugawa Shogunte Period, that depicts the life of an ambitious man who aspires to bring the whole of Japan under his control.
On August 27, the movies titled "Night Train to the Stars", "Faraway Sunset" and "Keiho" would be screened at National Art Gallery while the film "Kodayu" would be showcased on August 28. "Kodayu" is a true story of Daikokuya Kodayu, one of Japan's many reluctant ambassadors, who ended up in foreign lands by accident during an age when the Japanese Shogunate punished travel abroad with death. A powerfully evocative film that captures the feeling of the age revolves around the story of the events of Kodayu's return to his homeland.
