Livestock & Dairy Development Board (LDDB) and DeLaval Pakistan have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to assist and support progressive dairy farmers in the country by providing information on milking equipment, farm mechanisation equipment and by imparting necessary training to the dairy farmers for effective use of equipment.
Both the organisations also agreed to create awareness among the farmers through seminars, field days and farm visits. Chief Executive Officer LDDB, Dr Muhammad Afzal signed the agreement on behalf of his board while Misbah Burney inked the document on behalf of DeLaval. Dr Naveed Niazi, Syed Hassan Raza and Dr Arshad H. Hashmi were also present on this occasion.
According to the MoU, DeLaval would share its database of progressive dairy farms in Pakistan. In collaboration with LDDB staff it would utilise this database for execution of registration of progressive dairy farms and LDDB will also share its database of progressive farmers.
Both parties would make joint planning and execution of practical demonstration of mechanised milking and other farm equipment at the LDDB's selected progressive dairy farms. The parties also agreed to jointly plan and execute conferences, symposia and seminars of common interest in the field of dairy farming.
By virtue of this agreement, DeLaval would provide updated information to the LDDB about latest developments on milking and other dairy equipment for buffalo and cow dairy farms as well as share available information and knowledge for boosting the dairy sector of Pakistan using DeLaval collaboration with International Dairy Federation (IDF), International Farm Comparison Network (IFCN) and School Milk Programme under Food for Development Office etc.
According to the MoU both the parties would work together to encourage their respective organisations, dairy industries and research bodies to cooperate in the development of dairy sectors by offering the best knowledge sharing opportunities. The parties endeavour to cooperate with each other on the basis of equality, reciprocity and mutual benefit, especially in the field of dairy farm mechanisation, training of dairy farmers and technicians on the modern dairy farms mechanisation and techniques.
