The Lahore High Court (LHC) responding to a petition for transfer of investigation of a case against station house officer (SHO) Shahdara, Mustaneer Ahmad Khan and others for detaining two innocent persons, Nadeem and Tanvir, has directed the DIG (investigation) to appear before the court on September 1.
Earlier, the Judge on August 26 had ordered for registration of cases against SHO, incharge police post Begum Kot, Rana Khurshid Alam, constables, Mohammad Afzal, Rana Naeem and a private person Mohammad Iqbal.
The father of detainee Tanvir, Bashir Ahmed moved a habeas corpus petition brought the detention of Nadeem and Tanvir to the notice of the court. The Petitioner's counsel, Mudassar Abbas Maghiana alleged that the SHO with police party raided the petitioner's house on August 20 and took his son Tanvir and nephew Nadeem with them.
He contended that they were not involved in any criminal activities, nor were wanted by the police in any criminal case. On hearing the petition, judge deputed a bailiff to recover the detainee. Bailff reported to the court that no arrest entry or any case was registered against the detainees.
The main accused, who even after lodging of the case, was not removed from the police station and his subordinates were not doing justice with the petitioner. Moreover, the subordinates of the accused SHO, Mustaneer were threatening the petitioner, he alleged. He prayed that the investigation of the case should be transferred to some other police station and an impartial investigation of the case should be held.
