A state-of-the-art export processing centre (EPC) is being established at Faisalabad Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) to facilitate exporters/importers for one-window clearance of goods. Collector Customs Faisalabad Khawar Fareed Manika said while addressing the leading textile exporters here at the conference hall of Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) late Thursday.
"Exports from Faisalabad earn around three billion dollars per annum but only one-third of it are routed through Faisalabad Collectorate", he said, adding that MCC was taking measures to facilitate the exporters. "The new EPC would have 20 rooms in a row to process all custom-related documents expeditiously and successively. This process would be completed positively within 1.30 to three hours," he said.
About erroneous registration of Harmonised Code (HC), the Collector said he would arrange training courses for the custom clearing agents as well as for the staff of the exporters.
He said that a system was also being introduced to receive those documents through e-filing to minimise the chances of referring wrong HC. About the payment of Duty Draw Back (DDB), he said that it would be paid to the exporters within 15 days.
Responding to yet another question, Manika said that he would move a case for immediate notification of the PTEA Textile Testing Laboratory for the analysis of cloth samples for Collectorate.
About imports at FDP, he said that existing staff was not fully experienced to handle and clear the wide range of dyes and chemicals and at initial stages its clearance may cause delay and hence, exporters must bear it with patience. He also explained in detail the role of the PTEA in the over all uplift of Faisalabad.
