Begum Air Vice Marshal Faaiz Amir, Air Officer Commanding, Northern Air Command on Friday termed skill education vital for girls in present competitive era and urged them to take full advantage of short courses offered by the PAF College of Education for Women.
Talking to APP soon after the certificates giving ceremony held for those who got distinction in different short courses at college premises, she said that it is high time that women should come forward and equipped themselves with ornament of education to contribute in the country's development.
Highly appreciating the women hailing from nearby villages who grabbed distinction in different courses, she said the success of the position holders will have far reaching effects on their overall academic careers and finding quality jobs in present era of competition.
She also lauded that the college is very effectively conducting B.Ed and Montessori Diploma Courses besides more then a dozen other courses for female in a very professional way which, is highly praiseworthy. The courses offered at PAF colleges are very important for students, who wish to become leaders and contribute to society and for academicians and teachers wishing to make a difference through an exciting new educational enterprise, she said.
PAF College of Education for Women Peshawar Cantonment is being established as a leading institution of higher learning for talented students of the province and by empowering women to assume leadership positions, the college has been promoting a more equitable, stable and prosperous future for societies in NWFP.
She said that women have been playing key role in national development and by providing them basic opportunities, would further enhance their abilities to face future challenges. For this purpose, she said the college management on the demand of the parents decided to declare the female, who are awaiting BA and BSc results, are eligible to take admission in B.Ed and Montessori courses so safeguard their precious time.
In reality, she said, women are an integral part of our society as it is high time to involve them in decision making and economic process, insides and outsides of their homes in formal and informal sectors, urban and rural areas for the socio economic uplift of the country.
She also met the newly admitted students of B.Ed and Montessori Diploma courses and urged them to take full advantage by taking admission in the courses offered by the PAF College in a conducive environment under qualified staff. She lauded the excellent teaching standard and provision of facilities at the college. She commended the role of the college for its contribution in enhancing the literacy rate among women in the region.
Principal of the college Wing Commander Tariq Navi disclosed that soon M.Ed classes would be started besides efforts would continue to establish hostel facility for the girls' students.
Later, the chief guest gave away trophies and certificates to students who completed their courses. Ishrat Aamer got top position in B.Ed and Sajida Ghafoor got second position while in the Montessori Diploma Huma Irfan got top position and Sadia Ejaz got second position. Shumaila Kainat of B.Ed Batch-10 on "Education for Women" and Shomaila of Montessori Diploma on Divine Energy presented well-prepared speeches.
