People belonging to various walks of life have urged upon the political leaders and elected representatives that they should elect a competent and honest President in the forthcoming elections in a honest way to avoid any political upheaval in the country.
They also urged upon the government to take immediate steps for the stoppage of horse-trading to ensure fair elections. Most of the political leaders were playing with the sentiments of the people through their politic of self and confrontation as a result of which the masses hate the political leaders.
During past five to six months' dirty politics the political parties were losing their confidence because general public was commemorating good old days of President Pervez Musharraf because every basic facilities including articles of daily use easily available and poor segment of the society was enjoying the life, they said.
What was the outcome of series of meetings of political leaders of PPPP and PML-N? The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders were responsible for developing political relations with Pakistan People's Party (PPP), which had different ideology and were working on different agenda for just grabbing power.
Through consensus and debates in the parliament all burning issues could be resolved because parliament is the best forum for the purpose and it will indicate the supremacy of the parliament they added.
The hard fact is that the common man is least interested with lawyers long-march, democracy and revival of deposed judges they said. Lashing out at some leading television channels they alleged that these channels are playing their instrumental role in jumbling the facts for creating chaos through negative reports and talk shows and it seems that these TV channels had become the mouthpiece of some political parties.
They urged upon these channels work for enhancing the prestige and image of the country in their programmes for the larger national interest. The print and electronic media should concentrate on the promotion of national spirit among the masses through their reports because at present the tendency of national spirit is at lowest ebb in our nation, they said.
Everybody is fully aware that at present the country was passing through a very grave juncture but some leaders were busy in undermining the national interests by mud-slinging on some political parties which will ultimately develop a tug of war among the political parties. The political parties should focus their attention to purge the menace of corruption, terrorism, extremism and other social evils from the society for putting the country on right track.
