Developmental activities worth billions of rupees have been initiated in the provincial metropolis and other areas of the province and the people will soon witness a positive change. Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said this while addressing foundation stone laying ceremony of Madar-e-Millat Road, Township, here on Friday.
He said the provincial government will utilise its resources for the welfare and uplift of the people for materialising the dream of progress and prosperity of the masses. Shahbaz said that he will himself pay surprise visits to review the ongoing development schemes during the night so that a high standard of construction work could be ensured.
Elected representatives, senior officers and a large number of people were present on the occasion. The Chief Minister said that provision of basic amenities and welfare of the masses is an important feature of the manifesto of PML-N.
He said the ongoing projects to be completed at a cost of billions of rupees will prove to be a masterpiece of construction work as well as enhance beauty and greenery of the city. He further said that present government is providing flour at subsidised rates to masses.
Shahbaz said no step was taken during the last eight years for the welfare of the common man due to which people are still deprived of basic necessities such as food, health cover and education. He added that as "Khadim-e-Aala" of the people he is committed to serve the masses. The Chief Minister said financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month is being given to poor and destitute persons under Food Stamp Scheme costing Rs 22 billion.
He said that government has decided to bear all educational expenditures of talented students and the position holders will be provided funds for education in Pakistan and abroad. Earlier Colonel Arslan of Frontier Works Organisation while giving details about uplift projects in Green Town, Township and Quaid-e-Azam Town informed that the projects would be completed within eight months at a cost of Rs 425 million.
Consultant Punjab Horticulture Authority Mustafa Kamal said that an amount of Rs 154 million would be utilised on setting up of parks, installation of electricity polls and provision of other facilities in Quaid-i-Azam Town under Lahore Garden City Project. He said that the proposed projects will again transform Lahore into the City of Gardens. The function was also addressed by Member National Assembly Naseer Ahmad Bhutta, Members Punjab Assembly Ramzan Saddique Bhatti and Zaeem Hussain Qadri.
