'KPT land leased out to DHA in 2007'

Ministry of Ports and Shipping has informed the Senate on Friday that 881 acres of land of Karachi Port Trust (KPT) was leased out to Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in 2007. The ministry said this in written reply to a question raised by Senator Professor Khurshid Ahmad.
The land along with sea shore has been leased out to DHA as per mutual agreement between KPT and DHA at a rate of Rs 2.50 per square meter premium and 18 paisa per square meter per annum as ground rent. The ministry did not give any detail on what terms and condition the land was leased out and as the annexure in this regard was placed on the table of the senators.
