Chinese engineers and firms serving on different projects in Southern Punjab, were facing hardships in completing their projects in time due to security reason. Security has become a crucial factor in completion of projects like Kacchhi Canal, Indus Highway, thermal power projects, oil and mineral exploration projects.
It must be noted that Chinese are not used to working under tight security. In fact, they are habituated of working in fear-free atmosphere. Recently, Chinese firms working contractually on different projects in Southern Punjab had informed the Government about their reservations and sought extension in the completion period.
Therefore, the Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Salman Farooqui has directed the authorities concerned to remove impediments faced by the Chinese companies to ensure completion of their projects. Farooqui also discussed issues of the Chinese companies working on various development projects in Pakistan and asked the authorities to extend all kind of facilities to these companies.
'Successful completion of the projects being carried out by these companies will send a positive message that Pakistan is a preferred destination for foreign investment,' Farooqui added.
Reports on various projects explaining the future course of action were presented in the meeting. Moreover, administrative and financial matters of the projects were also discussed in the meeting.
