Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the present government is committed to fulfilling the dreams of the country's founding father Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
"I appeal to the nation to come forward and to unitedly endeavour with devotion and dedication for the realisation of the ideals for which Pakistan was created," he said in a message on the occasion of 60th death anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam.
The Prime Minister said in the recent past the nation was beset with problems of serious economic decline, corruption, breakdown of law and order etc. "Inspite of heavy odds, the present government has taken steps to put the country on an even keel. Very soon Inshallah the nation will benefit from the sound economic and administrative polices being adopted by the present government," he added.
The Prime Minister said the death anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam reminds us of the heroic efforts made by the great leader in bringing the Muslims of the sub-continent under the same banner. "It is also an occasion for soul-searching and for determining to what extent we have succeeded in achieving the ideals for which Quaid-e-Azam worked and struggled."
He said: "It was our misfortune that Quaid-e-Azam left us at a critical juncture soon after the creation of Pakistan and when we needed him most to steer us out of the teething problems that the nation faced in its infancy."
"Had the Quaid lived a little longer, he certainly would have completed the mission of providing a sound foundation for a progressive state thus enabling us to avoid the pitfalls that we drifted into soon after his death." The Prime Minister said the government stands committed to fulfilling the dreams of Quaid-e-Azam and Inshallah we will succeed in our mission. "For indeed this will be the most befitting way of paying homage to Quaid-e-Azam," he added.
