Different political and government dignitaries on Wednesday called on President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr and felicitated him for assuming the office of the President of Pakistan. These dignitaries include Chairman Senate, Mohammad mian Soomro, Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Abdul Hamid Dogar.
President Zardari stressed the need for effective strategies to cope with challenges Pakistan is facing on economic and political fronts. The issues of economy, law and order and food shortage also came under discussion. In their separate meetings with President Zardari, the government dignitaries congratulated him on becoming head of the state.
Chairman Senate Soomro, Dr Mirza congratulated President Zardari on assuming his office and said democracy has revived in the country, and would flourish in the days to come. Chief Justice Dogar wished the new President and discussed with him issues of national importance. Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and three services chiefs called on President Asif Ali Zardari and greeted him on assuming his office as President of Pakistan.
MILITARY TOP BRASS CALLS ON PRESIDENT: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Tariq Majeed, Chief of the Army Staff Ashfaq Parvaiz Kayani, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Afzal Tahir and Air Chief Marshall Tanvir Mehmood Ahmad conveyed to the new President good wishes on becoming head of state.
They discussed with President Zardari the challenges currently facing the country and the need for effective strategies to cope with them. They briefed them about the overall command structure and operational preparedness of the country's armed forces. President Asif Ali Zardari said the armed forces would be equipped with modern weapon system to enhance their professional capabilities.
FEDERAL CABINET CALLS ON ZARDARI: Members of federal cabinet called on President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday at Aiwan-e-Sadr and congratulated him on becoming head of the state, and discussed with him issues of national importance. President Zardari said after a long struggle, a civilian democratic government was established in the country, which would strengthen the state institutions. He asked the ministers to work hard in their respective areas for the betterment of people. Other issues including economy and food shortage also came under discussion.
