Kenya's shilling is seen weakening in the coming week, Tanzania's might also ease, but the Ugandan unit has a good chance of appreciating against the dollar, dealers said on Wednesday.
KENYA: Kenya's shilling slid against the dollar in the week to Wednesday and traders said it would remain under pressure. The commercial banks posted the unit at 70.75/85 to the dollar compared with last Wednesday's close of 70.30/50.
TANZANIA: Tanzania's shilling strengthened in the week to Wednesday due to dollar sell-offs by the Central Bank and dealers saw it either in a range of 1,150-1,160 or weakening to beyond 1,160.
UGANDA: The Uganda shilling is expected to remain firm against the dollar in the coming week, boosted by offshore investor interest and minimal corporate demand, dealers said. Commercial banks in Kampala quoted the local unit at 1,625/1,630 to the dollar, compared to last Wednesday's rate of 1,630/1,640.
