CAIRO: Egypt has closed its local wheat harvest having bought 3.4 million tonnes of wheat from farmers, Supply Minister Ali Moselhy said in a statement on Tuesday.
The supply ministry had said previously it was targeting between 3.5 and 4 million tonnes of wheat during the harvest, which typically runs from April through July.
The government paid farmers 13 billion Egyptian pounds ($716.45 million) in total for the wheat, Moselhy said.
