Pakistan's ambassador to the United States, Hussain Haqqani has said that there is a need to further enhance country's image to handle the unusual situation. Talking to private news channel's programme "Second opinion" Haqqani highlighted that the country could not be handed over to terrorists and added that nobody would be allowed to challenge the writ of the government.
He said that a democratically elected President of Pakistan is going to attend the session of the United Nations General Assembly after a long time and world leadership including George W. Bush, Manmohan Singh, Hamid Karzai and representatives from China and Saudi Arabia willing to meet him.
"Our objective of the session of 191 members countries of the UN is to highlight the role of Pakistan in United Nations and to give new direction to our foreign policy through meetings with world leadership". He said "I am confident that we will get co-operation from different countries for improving the economic situation of Pakistan in result of the engagements of Asif Ali Zardari in UNO".
Similarly "we will also get support for strengthening democracy in Pakistan and highlight our stand on different issues related to our neighbouring countries". PPP government under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari would overcome the challenges facing the country, he added. President Asif Ali Zardari is a democratic President and the country would realise progress and prosperity under his leadership, he said.
He said that President would take steps, which would lead the country towards new direction, the government was committed to formulating its policies with support of the masses. He expressed the hope that the President's dynamic ideas and policies would strengthen country's economy.
