In order to meet the growing demand of skilled manpower in the economy, short training courses in the areas of agriculture, food preservation, civil technology, refrigeration and air conditioning and information technology would be started soon to train the required manpower.
Decisions in this regard have been taken in the 21st meeting of Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) under the chair of newly appointed chairman of the authority Mohsin Syed.
It was also decided in the meeting that to make fullest use of the available technical and intellectual resources, efficient system would be evolved by involving industry, agriculture and academia in the management of Tevta institutions. It would also help the authority to make policies according to the demand of industry and implement these policies in letter and spirit.
The authority deliberated and accorded approval for restructuring of organisational structure of Tevta and introduction of Matric Vocational for girls at 15 Tevta institutions across the province of the Punjab. By offering matric vocational, Tevta would help females of the society to become more useful not only for themselves but also for the national economy.
To promote the idea of public-private partnership in the interest of industry and economy, proposal to collaborate with University of Management and Technology and establishment of Centre of Excellence in auto sector was endorsed. It was decided that training program in civil technologies at all levels would be implemented to meet the demand of the construction industry within Pakistan as well as Middle East.
The meeting was attended by Chairman Nestle Syed Yawar Ali, Chairman Izhar Construction Ltd Ayub Sabir Izhar, Managing Director Systems Ltd Aezaz Hussain, Chief Executive Javed Shahid Corporation Mian Shahid Rafi, Rector University of Management and Technology Dr Hassan Sohaib Murad, Representative LCCI S.I. Butt, Secretary Schools Nadeem Ashraf, Secretary Tevta Major Azam Suleman Khan (Retd), Additional Secretary Finance Dr Shoaib Akbar, Deputy Secretary Industries Rao Ghulam Hussain and senior officers of Tevta.
