Polish engineer's kidnapping: foreign oil, gas companies say may not continue work on projects
The incident of killing of three local employees and kidnapping of an engineer of a Polish company close to Islamabad has caused serious setback to Pakistan as most of foreign oil and gas exploration companies are reporting to the government that they may not be able to continue work on their projects due to security reasons.
The sources in the federal government departments on condition of anonymity told Business Recorder that the Interior Ministry and a few other government departments have received letters from some foreign oil and gas exploration and service companies that they were seriously concerned over law and order situation and they may not be able to keep on working in Pakistan if the situation does not improve.
In a targeted attack, some unknown armed men had killed three local employees of a foreign company besides kidnapping one Polish engineer, working at an oil field of a public sector oil and gas exploration company in district Attock. The incident has sent a wave of shock to all the foreign companies working for finding carbon to help Pakistan increase its local share in oil and gas production.
