The Mohmand tribes of militancy-stricken Bajaur Agency on Friday formed tribal Lashkar (force) to launch massive crackdown against hardened militants, Taliban fighters and announced full support to the government and Security Forces in their efforts to purge the agency from unwanted elements.
Hundreds of tribal elders, Maliks and chieftain of Mohmand tribes held a grand tribal jirga at Civil Colony Khar, the Headquarters of Bajaur Agency and decided they will fight shoulder to shoulders along with Security Forces to cleanse Bajaur Agency from militants and law breakers.
Malik Haji Rahmatullah Khan, Malik Shapur Khan, Malik Gujar Khan, Malik Saeedur Rehman and Malik Amaanullah along with large number of elders and tribesmen vowed to extend all their co-operation and assistance to Security Forces in the ongoing military operation.
Addressing the jirga Political Agent Bajaur Agency, Shafirullah Khan and military authorities said that tribal people had rendered great sacrifices for the country and are patriotic.
With the active support of local tribesmen, they said that Security Forces would soon purge the agency from miscreants and Taliban fighters and durable peace will return soon.
Meanwhile, the local administration of Bajaur Agency has ordered Afghan refugees to leave Bajaur Agency within three days. The administration warned that stern action would be taken against all those who offered shelter or stay and asked the tribesmen to vacate the houses and shops, which were given to refugees within three days.
The tribal elders of Bajaur Agency welcoming the initiative offered full support to government in this connection. The tribal elders said that it would improve the overall law and order and security situation in the volatile agency.
The political administration lifted curfew from residential areas of tehsil Khar including Sadiqabad, Tauheedabad, Bilalabad, Seerai, Lashora, Shandai Mor and Fajja. Busy roads of Sadiqabad and Khar have been opened for traffic. Meanwhile, Salarzai tribes announced launching crackdown against militants from Saturday in the Agency and vowed to launch a full-scale operation from Saturday to clean up the area from anti-state elements. The Lashkar announced to fully support the security forces in their hot pursuit against miscreants and militants.
