Quetta police on Thursday foiled major terror bids arrested five alleged terrorists involved in recent planning and executing terrorism, target killings, kidnapping for ransoms and other subversive activities in Balochistan including the provincial capital, DIG police (investigation), Rehmatullah Niazi said in a press conference.
He said that police on a tip off, raided a house in Main Ghundi area, in the jurisdiction of New Sariab police station and arrested five alleged terrorists. The DIG said that police also recovered suicide jackets, 20Kg of explosives, 182 detonators of bombs, 38 electronic detonators, Kalashnikovs, hand grenades and mobile phones with sims and huge quantity ammunitions from their possession. Besides, police also recovered uniforms and badges of police and Balochistan Constabulary.
Niazi strongly rejected the recent prevailing impression among the people that police personnel were involved in target killings said these terrorists were creating gap between the police and people and were bringing police in the people's bad book. Further, he expressed the hope that police would soon trace the networks of terrorists groups after completing investigation from these arrested terrorists.
The DIG also expressed his satisfaction over the performance of the local police after conducting the successful raid. He, however, did not disclose the names of the arrested terrorists. Later, the DIG showed the press the arms and ammunitions, detonators, explosives and other materials that were recovered from the terrorists.
