Punjab Chief Minister, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, has said that the provincial government would take all possible measures to resolve problems of journalists regarding construction of their houses in the Journalist Colony, moreover, he ensured that the funds for development work would be issued within the next 24 hours.
He expressed his views, while presiding over a meeting of Punjab Journalist Housing Foundation at Chief Minister's Secretariat, held here on Thursday. During the meeting he also ordered for the formation of a sub-committee for removal of encroachments from Journalist Colony and reviewing matters regarding allotment of plots, and the committee has been instructed to submit its report within seven days.
Matters regarding development work in Journalist Colony, removal of encroachments as well as other issues were also brought into consideration in detail. Media Advisor Pervez Rasheed, Secretary Information, Secretary Housing, Director General Public Relations, District Co-ordination Officer, Lahore, Secretary Lahore Press Club Moazam Fakhar, senior journalists Sarmad Bashir, Salman Ghani and Chaudhary Ghulam Hussain were present on the occasion.
The chief minister said that the government would take all possible measures to resolve problems of journalists so that they could construct their houses as soon as possible. He directed Director General, Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to extend all out assistance to the journalists and conduct a complete survey of the colony for removal of such encroachments regarding which no stay order has been issued. The chief minister further said that provision of alternate plots should also be considered against 17 plots in block B of Journalist Colony regarding which stay order has been issued by the court.
He also issued instructions to DCO Lahore for acquiring land for block F of the colony and to complete the formalities as soon as possible and submit him a report. He directed the sub-committee to look into irregularities in the affairs of the colony and submit a detailed report within seven days covering all aspects.
