The leader of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), Mian Nawaz Sharif has said that his party is determined to root out the menace of terrorism, which has become a curse for the country. His statement came in the meeting with a delegation of the PML-N Women's Wing Multan led by Sultana Sahain that called on him at his residence, Raiwind on Friday, sources said.
Nawaz told the delegation that present wave of terrorism is a gift of the eight-year rule of a dictator and there is need of a comprehensive policy to get rid of the problem and save the country from intrusions. He also said the situation in the border areas, is critical and the time is ripe for change in the government policies to ensure a stable and prosperous Pakistan, sources added.
The delegation members also apprised of the PML-N leader about problems confronted by the people due to escalating price hike and law and order situation. Moreover, the central leader, PML-N and former Federal Minister, Rana Tanveer Hussain said that deteriorated law and order situation in the country is the result of continuation of faulty policies of former President, Pervez Musharraf.
Hussain further said that conflagration caused by Musharraf due to his ill-conceived polices in tribal areas, is fast spreading in other parts of the country too. He called for initiating dialogue in tribal areas halting the use of force to restore peace. Condemning on recent blast in Islamabad, Dir Upper and US drone missile attack on Miranshah, he said, 'rulers should rid the country of policies of Musharraf to ensure peace and tranquility.'
Further, the PML-N leader said it is unfortunate that Musharraf, who endangered national security, was given guard of honour after his removal from power. 'The country needs a leader like Nawaz Sharif who could resist foreign pressure, ensure national dignity and respect and safeguard national interests', he added. Hussain further said rulers should stop following US dictation and take decision on all important issues through parliament asserting that strong parliament instead of powerful president was needed to make Pakistan strong.
