Government was committed to adopt a multi pronged and effective strategy to root out terrorism and extremism from the country, Senator Babar Awan said here on Sunday. The scourge of terrorism and extremism is affecting the country's economic development as well as its institutions, he told a TV channel.
Viewing the current situation in the country, the in-camera session has been held in time and government has gone a mile ahead as across the board leaders were invited to attend the session, he maintained.
Babar said joint session would help the legislators to assume and exert their due role to formulate national policies and subject them to parliamentary scrutiny and accountability.
It would lead to concrete and result-oriented suggestions to fight terrorism effectively, he said adding, both ruling and opposition parties were united in their resolve to fight terrorism.
